8 TIPS & ADVICE ON WEDDING DAY GETTING READY

Imagine the scene with your bridesmaids fussing over you, as you get ready, and the raw emotions when your family sees you for the first time in your bridal attire. Isn’t it priceless? The wedding day getting ready session is the time when the bride and groom get ready, separately or together, surrounded by their family, friends, and bridal party.

Your wedding day getting ready, is like a whole event in itself, which means there’s a lot to plan for. Not only do you need to find a convenient and beautiful location, you also have to coordinate with your photographer and videographer on how you want it. A wedding morning getting-ready session can be fun but can turn out bad as well if you don’t plan it well. I vividly remember the morning of my wedding day on how chaotic it felt and overwhelming because we did not really plan it, but luckily it turned out well.

Here are my tips & advice on everything you need to think about so your wedding day getting ready runs as smoothly as possible.

Time: It would be great if you could allocate a lot of time for this part of the day. This will allow the photographer/ videographer an ample time to document the process without you feeling rushed in any way.

Location: I suggest that you stay overnight in the same venue or stay nearby, so you are more relaxed on the big day. Avoid a long drive as you never know what can happen on the road such as; a car breakdown, traffic, etc.

Atmosphere: Getting your hair and makeup done can take a few hours. Therefore, it is important to have an area that offers a calm and relaxing atmosphere, where you can take a breath.

Guest-list: If your mother, bridesmaids, groomsmen, or other family members will be helping you get ready, let’s get them dressed first. That way, they’ll be ready to help you when it’s your turn to get dressed.

Bridesmaids/ Groomsmen: It’s a good idea to let them know in advance about your plans on the wedding day getting ready. And also, be careful of choosing your squad, choose wisely, the ones who can really own up the said role, and where you can delegate some tasks on.

Dress/Suit: When putting together your timeline, think of your dress. If you have a complicated dress, allocate enough time for it. During your last fitting, take note of how long it takes to get fully dressed.  Add a bit more time onto that for anything last minute, as well as your jewelry, and shoes, thus, this gives you a good idea of how much time you’ll need.

Photographer/ Videographer: If you have both, it’s better if you ask them to talk first before the wedding day. Its good to be on the same page, so that they are able to get the images and film you have asked them to commission.
