CLASSIC FRENCH WEDDING AT CHATEAU DE PENNAUTIER

Going through the photos to create this post really brought out so many emotions. Today, to celebrate our third wedding anniversary, I am beyond thrilled to finally blog our wedding photos and share some background on the aesthetic and inspiration behind our classic french wedding at Chateau de Pennautier.

Actually, for those of you who don’t know, Paul and I have been officially married for three years, now. Back in 2017, we had had our first wedding in the UAE, and a year after, on 19th May 2018, we celebrated the sacrament of marriage in Cathedral de Carcassonne, France.

Every time I look back at our wedding photos/videos, I always dream of showing them to our future children. I think that is so special and I can’t wait for them to see how in love their parents were and still are.

I’ve always wondered what my wedding would look like, not only because I don’t have a particular vision of my so-called “dream wedding” but also I am someone who always struggled to make any decisions. I had no clue what type of wedding I want, except that it should be a church wedding until my then-fiancé mentioned what in Southwest of France can offer. After numerous research, we finally concluded for a classic french wedding at Chateau de Pennautier.

Morning Getting Ready- Classic French Wedding At Chateau de Pennautier.

When the morning of our wedding finally arrived, we woke up to a feeling of genuine bliss. The rain had been forecasted, but unbelievably, the summer sun came out brightly. At so bright and early at ten in the morning, we started our morning getting-ready session at the sophisticated salon d’honneur of the chateau. I made a separate post of some tips and advice for your morning getting ready.

I wore a bold mermaid-style Rosa Clara dress – sensual and perfect in every detail. I love its beaded tulle, the deeply alluring sheer back, the amazing sweetheart neckline, and the sleeves that stunningly leave my shoulders bare. This wedding dress is from their 2017-2018 collection that I found in Rosa Clara, Philippines boutique.

Ceremony- Cathédrale Saint-Michel de Carcassonne.

Since we are both Catholic, we decided on a traditional wedding ceremony, which includes a full mass and communion. The ceremony started at 3:30pm in Cathédrale Saint-Michel de Carcassonne, officiated by Father Nicolas Bergnes. It’s a 10-minute drive from the Chateau de Pennautier.

Reception- Classic French Wedding At Chateau de Pennautier.

The reception was followed right after the ceremony at the stunning Chateau de Pennautier in Carcassone. Our idea was to create a classic and elegant feel and Chateau de Pennautier is a good example of classicism. It is an extraordinary renaissance chateau, known as the mini Versailles of Languedoc for its grandeur and style. It has a dreamy backdrop, beautiful vineyard, and enchanting chapel. We love its elegant style and welcoming atmosphere – simply perfect for a classic french wedding.

The Party- Classic French Wedding At Chateau de Pennautier.

We started the cocktail from six in the evening while the sun blazed brightly, then a lovely dinner in the Gallerie Louis XIV. The weather and ambiance were perfect until the night we watched the impressive fireworks and partied til dawn.

All those factors were completely out of our control, with no rain, made the day feel even more special. We are so grateful and could not have asked for a more perfect evening with family and friends – all in one place! Our classic French wedding at Chateau de Pennautier was magical and everything we had hoped for.

Wedding Cake- Classic French Wedding At Chateau de Pennautier.

One of the highlights of a French wedding is the presentation of le gâteau (the cake). For our wedding cake, we chose pièce montée— it’s a french traditional wedding cake, a tower of cream-filled, puff-pastry balls that are piled into a high pyramid and encircled with caramelized sugar. It was brought out at dessert time.

And that’s a wrap of our classic french wedding at Chateau de Pennautier. Thank you for reading as we share our wedding day. I hope it will inspire future brides who are looking for a classic wedding with a delicate and dreamy touch. If you want to read more wedding post, you can check;

I want to say thank you to Paul’s family— his mom and dad, and the tatas who stepped up and helped us our french classic wedding at Chateau de Pennautier bring it to life. And without them, this wedding could never have happened. It was their wedding as much as it is ours!

To my Nanay, thank you for flying all the way from the Philippines, despite your health condition. And to all our guests, thank you for joining us from near and far! It meant so much to us to see you there and it was truly wonderful to share the day with you all!

Also, thank you to all our vendors who worked so hard on that day. I shared all our Wedding Suppliers in Southwest France in a separate post.

To my ever-supportive husband, thank you for making the impossible, possible. Thank you for your unwavering support and patience, and for being my shoulder of my (many) meltdowns.

Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way.

Lots of love,

Jess & Paul
