BUBBLE LODGE ILE AUX CERFS, MAURITIUS
Ile Aux Cerfs was the next stop of our 7-day trip to Mauritius. We wanted to experience something different, and it so happens that there’s a Bubble Lodge on Ile Aux Cerfs, which was a 10 minutes boat ride from Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok, where we stayed. I made a separate post about our experience, in case you missed, it here’s the link Shangri La’s Le Touessrouk. In this post, I will be sharing our pleasant experience in Bubble Lodge Ile Aux Cerfs, Mauritius.
So, when we arrived at the jetty we were welcomed by our butler and took us to the reception for the checked in and we were handed a fresh towel and a welcome drink.
Before we were taken to our bubble, our personal butler gives us a tour around the Ile Aux Cerfs Golf Club, and also to the other two bubbles. Ile Aux Cerfs is a golfer’s paradise with an excellent 18-hole par- 72 championship golf course designed by Bernhard Langer, one of the most famous golf courses in the world.
About Bubble Lodge Ile Aux Cerfs
There are two Bubble Lodges in Mauritius, one is located in Ile Aux Cerfs Golf Club (where we stayed), and another one is in Bois Cheri (which I will show you towards the end of this post). Bubble Lodge in Ile Aux Cerfs, Mauritius, strategically situated in its own secluded part of the island. In fact, they are the only accommodation available on the island itself. The Bubble Lodges have been created to have minimal impact on the environment which makes them very eco-friendly and well admired by nature-lovers.
There are only three Bubbles, one is situated in the middle of a banyan tree and the other two are on the exclusive La Flibuste beach, this means that staying in one of them is a unique, romantic, and exclusive experience especially during the evenings. What I loved the most was a peaceful night of staying to our bubble while watching and listening to the rain and waking up in the middle of the night with the moon above you.
Whether you enjoy falling asleep to the sound of the ocean or while watching the stars and the moon, one thing is for sure this experience will allow you to connect with nature and you will leave with a refreshed mind and body.
The Bubble Lodges
As mentioned above, the Bubble Lodge Ile Aux Cerfs Mauritius has three bubbles, The Banyan Tree, Sea View, and Sea & Lake View, where we had stayed. Each bubble has its own character, I personally loved the lake & sea view but the banyan tree is also interesting to try on.
We stayed at the lake and sea view bubble, unfortunately just for a night, means when we booked this, we don’t have any expectations at all we just want to try something different. If we only knew that this would be a luxury castaway experience, unlike any other, we could have stayed there most of our days in Mauritius. But anyway, as the saying goes, the best things come when you least expect it. Below is the interior of our bubble, actually all the bubbles have the same concept of the interior, it differs only where it is situated.
Staying in a Bubble Lodge on Ile aux Cerfs is like staying at the luxury hotel room. Each unit has been decorated to blend in with the unique surroundings. The bubbles are extremely comfortable and spacious, with a lounge area, air-conditioning, coffee machine, small fridge, and a small bathroom and an open sky shower with hot water.
The Service and Amenities
The room rate includes half board (breakfast and dinner) normally being served in the golf course clubhouse. If you want your once in a lifetime experience extra memorable, I think they can arrange your dinner is served somewhere, you just have to request it in advance. Not convince yet? As a Bubble Lodge guests and who loves to play golf, you can enjoy complimentary green fees on the “must play” championship Golf Course designed by Bernhard Langer.
During your stay, you will have a dedicated butler from 7:00am to 9:00pm (if I remember correctly) and a 24-hour security guard. If you need anything such as a golf cart to go to the clubhouse or you can ask to tour you around your butler will be at your disposal.
There’s a bar at the La Flibuste exclusive beach, from there, you can enjoy the magnificent white sand beach dressed with sunbeds and parasols for your pleasure.
That’s how our Bubble Lodge experience in Ile Aux Cerfs ends but we will treasure the lovely memories we had in this secluded island in Mauritius. However, if you want to see more, you can watch my YouTube video below.
BUBBLE LODGE BOIS CHERI, MAURITIUS
After Ile Aux Cerfs, we drove to Le Morne, which is our next destination. It happens that Bois Cheri is quiet nearby when we visited some places in Le Morne. If you are interested to know what Activities to do and to visit in Le Morne, I made a separate post.
Bois Cheri is the most famous Tea Estate of Mauritius, the surroundings are completely different from Ile Aux Cerfs. There are many tourists going to Bois Cheri because it is one of the tourist places there where you can visit the tea plantation, tea museum and factory and then a tea tasting at the chalet. The restaurant near to the Bubble Lodge was full and it was very noisy, however, the food and the panoramic view were great.
They also have three bubbles, we were able to ask the right person if we could visit, however, we were allowed to visit only one as the two bubbles were occupied by that time.
Personally, I and, my husband prefer the Ile Aux Cerfs, the atmosphere was completely different. We like to have greenery and beach combined. Also, it was an exclusive experience on an amazing island in the lagoon, whereas, in Bois Cheri, everyone can come.
Does anyone of you has already tried to spend a night in a bubble? Let me know how was it and where. Or feel free to email me at infomail@jesschatenay.com if you want more information, I will try my best to help you!
Bisous,
C’est Jess

Other Comments:
- You have a 1 hour free golf initiation or a complimentary greenfees on the “must play” remarkable championship golf course.
- The breakfast & diner was not really exquisite I would say but it was okay and the serving was big.
- It would be good if each bubble would get their own buggy, to provide more freedom and to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
- The wifi at the clubhouse is on and off and weak.
- Overall HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
